Pictured above are just a few types of engraved checker patterns. To give the patterns a richer, fuller look we used the 3D engraving feature, which comes standard on all Epilog CO2 laser engraving systems.

How do I engrave a checkering pattern?

Since the laser essentially works just like a printer, all you need to do is set up the graphic on your computer and print it to the laser. Checkering patterns are created in a graphic design software program, such as CorelDRAW. Each checker pattern is made up of a variety of grayscale diamonds in various patterns, from very basic layouts to complex ones, such as the one diamond checkering pattern shown to the left.

When you have the general checker pattern set up, you can fill the area of the gun stock that you will be engraving on screen. Print it to the laser, and you'll have your very own designer gun stock.
