Legend 36EXT Firmware and Driver Downloads

Changes:

• Rotary Center-Center Engraving: When using the Center-Center feature with the Rotary Attachment, raster engraving would be offset in the Y-axis from the intended location. This has been resolved for all Epilog laser systems.
• Rotary Auto Focus Position: When using Auto Focus with the Rotary Attachment the table could stall at the very bottom of its stroke. This was seen almost exclusively on the Mini 18, but the issue has been resolved on all Mini, Helix and EXT systems.
• Auto Calibrate: Under the Maintenance key is a new Auto Calib. X Encoder setting. This new feature is used by the factory to automatically calibrate raster engraving and vector cutting positions so they are precisely aligned to one another.

Instructions: Click on the firmware download above and save the file. Normally, the default Save location is onto your Desktop folder.

Once you have the file downloaded, simply double click the file to extract it. You will be asked to save the extracted file to a new location. Select the location you want to save this file to and proceed. Extracting the file changes it from an .exe format to a .hex format. It is the .hex format file that you will use to upgrade.

Additional Dithering Patterns:
Popular dithering patterns Floyd-Steinberg, Stucki and Jarvis are now featured directly in the driver. We have found Jarvis and Stucki to be excellent patterns for etching photos on anodized aluminum, marble, plastic and other materials that produce a white-on-black contrast.

The new ClipArt dithering patterns (Standard/Brighten/Low Res) will produce subtle dithering patterns on ClipArt images. The Standard selection is our standard default dithering that has always been a part of the Epilog driver. The Brighten pattern reduces dot density and produces better looking grayscale images on wood. This was the standard selection on past machines including the Radius and Summit.  The Low Res setting reduces the dot density of a grayscale image even more than the Brighten setting, and will improve many low resolution images as well. Experiment with the patterns and see which ones you like best. Try engraving your favorite grayscale image on anodized aluminum and wood with each dithering pattern - you'll quickly see how each pattern affects your results.

New! 64 Bit Operating System Driver (Beta Version)

For customers working with a 64 bit operating system, we have developed a beta version of our driver. Click here to install the 64_801.exe driver file.

Why is it a beta version? We are still testing the driver with 64 bit operating systems, and would like any comments that you have. If you test out the system and have any problems or comments on the driver, please send them to sales@epiloglaser.com.

How do I know if I have a 64 bit operating system? If you have one, you probably know it! The 64 bit operating system is still very rare and is not supported by most peripheral devices.  Information on the 64 bit operating system is available here.

This driver is designed as a vector cutting only driver and does not have raster engraving capabilities.  This vector only driver can be used with Legend, Legend EX, TT, Mini, Helix and Legend EXT machines and is Windows XP/2000 compatible.
