Laser Cutting Living Hinge Photo Frames
Cardboard, MDF, Wood
Introduction
Project Settings
Step 1: Prepare Artwork

Open the file in the design software of your choosing, and you will see the living hinge design off to the left, as well as the living hinge frame design. First we’re going to select the frame artwork of the file and print it to the Laser Dashboard, using “Selection Only”.
Step 2: Set Parameters in the Laser Dashboard

In the Epilog dashboard, input your cutting settings. On an 80-watt Fusion Edge 24 we used 50% Speed, 3% Power, 2% Frequency, for the scoring lines. For the cutting settings we used 30% Speed, 25% Power, and 50% Frequency. Now print the job to the laser.
Step 3: Run the Job

Once you’ve sent your job to the laser, select the job and press go!
Step 4: Assemble the Living Hinge Frame

Glue both thinly cut strips to the thicker cut strips, and let them dry. Once dry, line them up with the scoring lines on the living hinge base piece, and glue them down with the thinner piece facing down, to create slots for the frame. Let the glue dry.
Paint your frame with the color of you choice if desired, letting both sides dry one at a time.

Once the paint is dried place the tab end of the frame into the slot end and place your desired image into the frame.

Now you have your very own custom living hinge frame!
