Trin 1: Forbered kunstværket
To start, in our design software we’ll select our first design. The page width needs to be the length of the rolling pin area. The page height is calculated by multiplying the diameter by 3.141. You can use calipers to determine that diameter. For this project we set our page height to 9.92 inches. Note that you may need to make adjustments depending on the size of your rolling pin. Select the artwork and print it to the Laser Dashboard, choosing “Selection Only”.
Trin 2: Opsæt illustrationer i laserdashboardet
In the Epilog dashboard, navigate to the Advanced tab. Turn on the rotary attachment setting, and set that page height to match the page height that was set up in the design software. Select “Bottom left” as the centering point option. Now navigate back to the Preview tab and input your engraving settings. On an 80-watt Fusion Edge 24 we used 500 dpi, 20% speed, and 100% power, with “bottom-up” engraving selected.
Step 3: Rotary Setup
After installing the rotary attachment, remove the handles from the rolling pin and place it on the rotary. Focus the laser to the rolling pin, ensuring it is level all the way across. Use the scissor lift on the rotary to raise or lower the rolling pin as needed.
Set the centering point by turning on the red dot pointer, and jogging the laser head until the red dot is just over off the edge, then press the centering point at the display panel.
Step 4: Run the Job
At the laser, select the file and press the start button to begin engraving.
Step 5: Clean up
After the engraving is completed, wipe the rolling pins with a damp cloth. You may also use mineral oil or another coating over the top if desired.
Now you have some beautiful laser engraved decorative rolling pins.
