Marking Anodized Aluminum
When engraved or marked with either a CO2 or fiber laser system, anodized aluminum produces a high-quality, high-contrast, permanent mark.
What is anodizing?
Aluminum that’s been anodized has gone through an electrochemical process that increases durability and resistance to corrosion and wear. It is not treatment that is painted on or applied, it is actually grown from the metal itself. This process can be done on a variety of metals, but works particularly well on aluminum.
The anodized layer of aluminum is actually white, but after the process is complete the product can be dyed just about any color, which makes it ideal for a variety of products.

Benefits of Marking Anodized Aluminum
with a Laser Machine
Hastighed
Styr dine lasere direkte fra din browser med Epilog Pulse. Denne teknologi tilbyder realtidskommunikation mellem din designsoftware og maskinen, hvilket optimerer din arbejdsgang for mere effektive og præcise resultater.
Cost Effective
No-contact marking means no bits to replace or chemicals to purchase.
Less Material Waste
Epilog’s IRIS™ Camera System gives you a live preview of your engraving table, which means you can quickly and accurately place your graphics every time.
Exceptional Detail
Epilog Laser machines can engrave even the most detailed graphics, even text as small as 2 – 4 points!
How does anodized aluminum react with the laser?
When laser engraving anodized aluminum with a laser, you’ll notice a bright contrast. That’s because when the laser beam hits the aluminum surface it actually bleaches it to expose the anodized layer below. Laser marking anodized aluminum doesn’t impact the protective qualities of the anodized layer, and it doesn’t impact the structural integrity of the product either.
Whether you are laser etching serial numbers, logos, or other text/graphics, Epilog’s high-speed machines provide a high quality on all of your anodized aluminum products.
What types of anodized aluminum products
can you mark with your Epilog?
Anodized aluminum is very durable, lightweight, and relatively inexpensive. It’s also very versatile and can be found in a variety of industries. Therefore, it’s used widely in the world of manufacturing. Anodized products commonly marked with a laser include:

Skilte
Anodized aluminum is lightweight, but very durable, making it perfect for indoor/outdoor signage, point of purchase displays, directional signage, and much more.

Markedsføring
From pens to water bottles to mini flashlights, high-quality promotional products made of anodized aluminum can be branded quickly and easily with a laser. These make great giveaways at conferences, tradeshows or other events!

Elektronik
Often referred to as “tech tattoos”, you can use your laser machine to add a serial number, logo, or personal message/quote on all kinds of electronics that are commonly made of anodized aluminum, such as mobile phones, tablets, and laptops. The laser moves at such a high speed and low power that internal components of the device are not compromised.
This application is great for not only branding, but it also helps companies keep track of their assets and deters theft.

Industrial Applications
Use your laser to serialize or add QR codes to anodized aluminum casings, parts, tools, and other components.
