Technical Library: Cropping Clipart in CorelDRAW

When you're working with clipart in Corel and want to use just part of the graphic, you no longer have to ungroup and remove the individual pieces of the image. The new crop tool in CorelDRAW X3 lets you remove portions of your graphic quicker and easier than ever!

Check out the flash demonstration of this technique by clicking here.

1)

Start with your image on a new page in Corel. Select the Crop Tool (in the red square) from the toolbar on the left side the screen to continue.

2)

When the crop tool is selected, the cursor will change to a small box with the ends crossed. Start at the upper left corner of the image and draw a box to the lower right corner to set your crop area.

Don't worry about being exact yet - you can still adjust the crop area after it is drawn.

3)

To resize the box, click on then center node of the image's left, right, top or bottom side and drag it in or out as needed.

You can also click inside the image and move the box around until it is perfectly positioned.

4)

And you're done - your image is now ready to work with! The new crop tool is a nice addition of Corel X3. This new tool is a real time saver, because you can also crop photos or bitmaps without using Photo-Paint or Photoshop.
