Getting started is easy. When you open your file you will see three sets of graphics below a blank 8.5" x 11" page (Figure A). The first set is the Vector Frame files to be used for the jig. The second set of images is for engraving and cutting on the vellum. The final set is for engraving and cutting on construction paper. You'll see designs for two separate sets of invitations - a wedding and an anniversary.
Note: While you should never run the machine unattended, this is especially true with highly flammable materials, like cardboard and paper. |

2) |
Vector Frame: First we're going to create the jig for the vellum paper. It will be used to hold the vellum down while rastering and vectoring the paper so that it does not move while you are working with it. Click on either the top or bottom set of outlines under Vector Frame in the file and center it on your page by pressing "P"on your keyboard. Print the outline to the laser, setting the driver to Vector only. We ran this file on a 45 watt Mini at 15% speed and 100% power using 1/8" acrylic or wood (Figure B). |

Vector and Raster Vellum: Choose any color of vellum paper to create this part of the invitation. Place your vellum under the acrylic or wood jig you just created in Step 2 (see Figure C). In Corel, after you have moved the jig files off the page, click on the image set you want to work with, and press "P" on your keyboard to center it on the page. Print the file to the laser setting the driver to Combined mode. On the 45 watt Mini, we rastered the job at 100% speed, 20% power. For the vector settings, we used 100% speed, 25% power. When you are done, the results should look similar to Figure D. |

Vector and Raster Construction Paper: Choose the color of construction paper that you want to use and place it on the vector grid. After you move the previous file from the page in Corel, click on either the wedding or anniversary image under "Vector and Raster Paper" and press "P" to center it on the page. Print the file to the laser setting the driver to Combined mode. For the 45 watt Mini, we set the raster at 100% speed, 20% power and vector settings of 100% speed and 25% power.

Now, with your ribbons you can tie a knot, a bow, or weave it in and out of the holes as we have done and that's all there is to it. You're done!
