This Mother's Day show mom how much you love her with a one of a kind Mother's Day Pop Out card made with your Epilog Laser system. This original Mother's Day card will surely bring a smile to any mother's face, as well as show her how much you truly appreciate everything she does.

Creating the Mother's Day Pop Out Card might just be the most valuable thing you'll ever create with your Epilog Laser system (or at least mom will think so!)

  1)

Start by opening the inside_card.cdr file in CorelDRAW. For this file we are going to be using the Burgundy Corduroy paper. Below are the Vector settings that we used for vector cutting.

System Used: Epilog Mini 24
Wattage: 35
Speed: 75%
Power:
25%
Frequency: 5000

Note: The large rectangle and small triangles will be used in the assembly part of the outside card in a later step.

  2)

Use the diagram in Figure B to make the appropriate folds for the large card cut from our Burgundy Corduroy paper. The blue dotted lines indicate where the folds should be made.

Figure C shows what the card will look like after all the folds have been made.

Attention: Before continuing on to step 3, open rose_colors01.cdr and rose_colors02.cdr and print them to a color printer. These sheets will be used in step 3 to create the individual roses that make up the rose bouquet inside our Mother's Day card.

Don't worry if your color printer does not print all the way to the edge of your standard 8.5 x 11 paper. The roses_vector_cut.cdr file has been adjusted to compensate for the white border around the outside of the colored bars.

  3)

Open the roses_vector_cut.cdr and use the following vector settings to cut out the rose petals:

Speed: 80%
Power:
15%
Frequency: 5000

rose_colors01.cdr and rose_colors02.cdr

  4) Once you have all the rose petals cut from each colored sheet, use the order of the images in Figure D to glue together the petals for each rose.

  6) Next open the text (front).cdr and cut the file out using the following settings on the Dark Green Marble Finish paper:

Speed: 75%
Power:
25%
Frequency: 5000
text (front).cdr
  7)

Glue together the Happy Mother's Day text from step 6 to the Happy Mother's Day background from step 5.

  8) Open the outside_card.cdr file and cut the file out using the following settings on the Light Green paper:

Speed: 75%
Power:
25%
Frequency: 5000

Note: When vector cutting this file be sure to save the circle cut out from the O in the MOM text. In a future step you will need to glue the circle to the red rectangle that will be glued to the back of the MOM text.

  9)

In this step we will be assembling the outside card for our Mother's Day "Pop Out" Card.

Use the photo to the right as a guide for the following assembly steps.

  • Begin by folding the light green card from step 7 in half.
  • Then glue the rectangles from step 1 behind the MOM text cut out.
  • Now glue the light green circle, cut from step 7, to the center of the O.
  • Glue the red triangles from step 1 and the dark green triangles from step 6 to each corner for added detail.
  • Next glue the silver roses in an arrangement of your choice to the front of your Mother's Day card.

Outside Card

  10) In this section we will be assembling the inside pop out portion of our Mother's Day card.

Use the photos to the right as a guide for the following assembly steps.

  • Begin by gluing the light green triangles to the corners of the red pop out card from Figure C.
  • Then glue the colored roses, created earlier, to the card in Figure C in an arrangement that is pleasing to you.

    Note:
Be sure to place the roses in an arrangement that does not leave the roses jutting out from any side when the card is in the closed position.
Next glue the Happy Mother's Day text to the front of the 2 smaller pop out stages.
Inside Card

  11)

The final step in creating our Mother's Day card is to connect the inside pop out card to the center of the outside card using some glue.

Now you're finished.

To personalize the Mother's Day Pop Out card to the taste of its recipient use different color papers, glitter, ribbon, etc..

Please pass along a Happy Mother's Day greeting from everyone here at Epilog Laser.
