Sample Club: Laser Etching a Leather iPad Case

Here we show you how to quickly engrave your favoite design on a leather iPad Case.

As a design, we used our graphic designer's FontBot, which is a character designed from a variety of characters from one font. To create your own FontBot, visit our Technical Library article, Make Your Own FontBot.

Files:
Right click the file below and choose "Save target as." Open the file in CorelDraw 8 or later.

ipad_case.cdr

Open the file in CorelDRAW. On the right side of the page you'll see a guideline placed 1" into the page. This shows you where the hem of the leather will be on your page.

Either use the FontBot we created, create your own using our instructions in the Tech Library, or include any other graphic you would like to engrave. Leather etches incredibly well, so you'll get a nice engraving from most graphics

Next you'll need to determine the speed and power settings that correspond with the system you're using. We used a 50-watt Helix and the following settings:

Raster Speed: 100
Raster Power:
40
Resolution: 300 dpi

Send your graphic to the laser and you're done!
