Celebrate the month with a USA Flag to show your patriotism. This month’s sample club will provide a basic pattern of a flag for you to create for decoration either indoors or outdoors. You can be as detailed and creative as you want. Using just about any type of material you want and making it as big or small as you desire, create your own unique flag. The sample uses wood, inlay pieces and leather to tie it all together.
Materials:
Wood any type width 1/8 inch
Glue (for Wood) or Tape
Scissors
Leather String
Files: Right click the file below and choose "Save target as." Open the file in CorelDraw 8 or later.
When you open the file in CorelDRAW, you will see the entire USA Flag already set up to be the size of a 9 1/2 x 14 inch size flag. These sizes can be re-adjusted to the size of your choice. The page is set up for a 14.5 x 4.5 size piece of wood (see rectangular background located behind the flag).

Place each piece of the flag to be engraved onto the page area of which you set-up. Move the other pieces off the page area. For example: the strips that will be a lighter color of wood place only those pieces onto the page area (see picture). Continue to do this until you have completely finished cutting out all the pieces of the flag.

The entire file is Vector cut. Depending on the type of material you are using, the thickness of it and the wattage of the laser you are using will depend on how you will set up your Vector cutting speed and power.

To inlay the stars you will need to vector the square box with stars twice. Once with the darker material and the second with the lighter material.

Lay out the pieces you have cut. You will want to either glue or tape the stars into your square so you can inlay them as shown in the picture.

Next, take your string and start from the last hole at the bottoms of the pieces and weave it through the holes. Loop the rest of the string around to create the lasso for hanging. Continue down the other side of the flag.
