As home improvers keep improving and the DIY crowd gets bigger and bigger, this handy drill gauge makes a great promotional gift that's easy to make and practical to have.
Since it can be made from a variety of materials, this versatile product is a must have for any repair or improvement project. We even included a file with dimensions in millimeters.
Materials:
Wood, plastic, acrylic planks - at least 3.5" x 6.5".
Files: Right click the files below and choose "Save target as." Open the file in CorelDraw 8 or later.
Follow the steps below to complete the project. We used a 50 watt Helix , but you will need to consult your owner's manual to determine the proper settings for the material you choose and for your machine:
1. Begin by opening the file and make necessary changes to the design (logo, contact information, etc.)
2. Next, place the material in the upper left corner of the laser. Determine your settings and send the job to the laser.
Wood (raster): 70% speed, 100% power Wood (vector): 10% speed, 100% power, 500 frequency
3. If you'll be engraving the back of your gauge, simply flip the material over and send the job. Wipe off any excess wood residue and you're all set!
4. Use the same technique described above for other materials like plastic or acrylic. Here is a sample that we created from engraveable plastic using the following settings on a 50 watt Helix laser.
Engraveable plastic: Raster: 100% speed, 30% power Vector: 30% speed, 50%power, 5000 frequency
