Sample Club: Engraved Clay Pots |

|
Spring is in the air and the planting season is drawing nearer. For this projec we utilize the rotary attachment to engrave clay flower pots we painted ourselves. These personalized pots are perfect for any gardener or plant-lover.

Materials:
- Clay flower pots in various sizes- we purchased ours from Michael's.
- Pot Sizes:
Purple:
4 3/16" high, 4 1/2" in diameter.
Blue: 3 15/16" high, 4 1/2" in diameter.
- Spray paint - we used Rust-Oleum Painter's Touch Multi-Purpose paint in dark blue and purple.
- Note: You can use any color spray paint you wish; however, using darker paint will really make the engraved areas "pop."

The Epilog system used for this project was a 45 watt Helix.
- The first step is spray paint your pots.
- Note: it is extremely important to apply even coats of paint to the pots. If your layers are uneven, the laser may get through some and not others, leaving a spotty engraving behind.
- After your pots are evenly painted and thoroughly dry, follow these steps:
- Open either sc_clay_blue.cdr or sc_clay_purple.cdr.
- Change text as necessary.
- Insert the rotary attachment into the machine.
- Place the pot securely on the attachment and adjust for size.
- On a 45-watt Helix, use the following settings:
RASTER SPEED: 40%
RASTER POWER: 100%
