Note: This step is only for figuring out the page size to engrave the drumstick artwork. If your drumsticks are the same size as the ones described (16" x 0.635"), you may skip this step. The drumsticks used for this project are 16" in length with a circumference of 1.905" (at the shaft). If you use drumsticks that are a different length or thickness the artwork will need to be adjusted for the different measurements. The formula for calculating the circumference of a cylinder is: circumference = 3.14 x thickness (width).
First begin by measuring the length of a drumstick. Set the page width to match the length of the drumstick.
Now measure the thickness or width of your drumstick and use that number to figure out the circumference of your drumstick using the formula: circumference = 3.14 x thickness (width). Set the circumference of the drumstick as your page height.
Hint: If you are using artwork that you would like to wrap around the drumstick then multiply the page height times the number of times that you would like the artwork to wrap around the handle.
