FiberMark Laser System Features

The FiberMark Laser Series is truly a unique product in the metal and plastic marking industry. The combination of flying-optic design and the highest quality engraving results provide a one-of-a-kind solution for your metal marking and engraving needs.

Read below about the many different features of the FiberMark Laser System that makes it so unique!

High-Speed Parts Marking Over a Larger Work Area
Flying-optic beam delivery system provides a larger work area than in traditional metal marking systems.

By directing the laser beam through a series of mirrors, the FiberMark laser system has been designed to engrave a large work area of 24" x 12" (609 x 305 mm). The flying optic, state-of-the-art X/Y mechanical design of the FiberMark is the result of Epilog's 20+ years of experience in manufacturing CO2 laser marking and cutting systems.

Benefits of a flying-optic laser over galvo system:

  • Allows for high-speed parts marking with a larger work area.
  • Accommodates large pieces or common label sheet stock.
  • Palletization or sheet-stock marking is done while the operator performs other tasks.
  • Parts indexing is simple and predictable, based on the X/Y zero positioning.
  • Consistent spot size and power density is achieved over the entire work area.

Open Architecture Software Interface
Send projects to the laser through a simple print driver, allowing you to use the software you choose.

The Epilog FiberMark uses our exclusive OpenArc™ Software Interface. This means you can print directly from your computer to the laser using almost any graphic design, barcoding, serializing, or CAD software package.

Operators can simply import their barcode, serial number or logo using the design program of their choice, and send the job to the laser.

Why does this matter to you?
Since most of today's fiber systems are controlled by proprietary design software, the most challenging and time-consuming task is not learning to operate the laser, but rather learning the proprietary design software you need to drive the system. With the FiberMark you are using software you are already utilizing in your business.

Non-Contact Marking: No Bits Needed

No need to brace parts or replace expensive engraving bits or tools.

One of the greatest benefits of the FiberMark laser is its non-contact marking capabilities. This means that no part of the equipment actually touches the tool or part being marked.

The non-contact marking method produces many benefits, including:

  • Since nothing is touching the part, the integrity of the part being marked in never compromised.
  • There are no expensive bits or tools that will wear down and need replacing.
  • You can simply place the tool in the engraving cabinet - there is need to manually brace parts or pieces being engraved.
  • It's environmentally responsible - there are no marking materials like ink and acid etching chemicals to worry about or dispose of.

Etch, Polish and Anneal with One System

Create multiple marks that fit your needs with easy-to-use settings.

There are many different finished looks the FiberMark Laser System is capable of achieving by simply adjusting the speed, power, frequency and focus settings of the systems. To the left you can see the three most common techniques created with the FiberMark - etching, polishing, and annealing.

Network the Laser Across Your Business
Quick Connect™ system gives you more connection options.

Epilog's Quick Connect™ system gives you the most connection options of any laser system manufacturer. Choose either a high-speed 10 Base T Ethernet connection or connect the laser to your computer using a USB cable.

In addition to higher transfer speeds, the Ethernet connection provides the most reliable data transfer over long distances.

Additionally, you can network your laser to all of the computers in your building or more than one laser to each computer, providing you with the maximum efficiency for expanding your manufacturing operation.

High-Volume, Multi-Piece Parts Marking

Easy-Access Drop-Down Front Door allows easy front access to the engraving table.

Parts placement in the FiberMark can be easily accomplished by placing the part or tray of parts through the top window door or through the hinged, front-access door of the laser system. Both of these safety-interlocked doors provide fast and efficient parts placement and removal.

  • Engrave or mark multiple parts at one time.
  • Load an entire jig of parts and start engraving.
  • There is no need to have an operator that is constantly loading the laser system.

Mark and Etch a Wide Variety of Materials
Etch almost any metal and mark many engineered plastics.

The wavelength of the Ytterbium Fiber Laser that drives the FiberMark system is ideal for marking a wide variety of materials including: stainless steel, aluminum, black/white ABS, carbon fiber, brushed aluminum, polycarbonate, anodized aluminum, white PEEK, polysulphone, silicon wafers, colored delrin, magnesium, and more.

By simply adjusting the speed, power, frequency and focus, we'll help you find the perfect settings for the ideal mark on your material. Send a sample to our Applications Lab to help you determine if the FiberMark is right for your application. They will provide you with an in-depth report on the marks created with the laser, the process used to find the right settings, and the right laser wattage for your material. Contact the Applications Lab for more information.
