Mini 18/24/Helix Firmware Backup
1.0.2.5 1/30/09 In rotary mode, the travel speed through white space in the artwork has been changed to match the raster/vector speed, reducing slippage.
1.0.2.4 1/4/08 Changes were made to resolve vector cutting issues found on a small number of machines shipped in December 2007. All other machines will not be affected by this update.
12/18/07

Rotary Center-Center Engraving: When using the Center-Center feature with the Rotary Attachment, raster engraving would be offset in the Y-axis from the intended location.

Rotary Auto Focus Position: When using Auto Focus with the Rotary Attachment the table could stall at the very bottom of its stroke.

1.0.2.1 11/9/06
  • Adds center-to-center, center-to-top, and center-to-left engraving to the system.
  • Enhancements to the USB connection make the connection much more robust and easy to set up.
  • Adds Relocateable X-Axis home position for the Rotary Attachment.
  • Laser Tickle: Enhancements have been made to the way CO2 laser tubes pre-ionize. This change can be set by the user and will ensure that the laser tube fires immediately, even after having set idle for long periods of time.
    • To access Mode on the Mini and Helix, press the RESET + UP keys simultaneously.
    • To access Intensity, press the RESET + Down keys simultaneously.
1.0.1.9 9/4/06 Adds additional controls when working with Color Mapping in the driver.
1.0.1.8 7/12/06 Adds the ability to send multiple pages from CorelDRAW to the laser and to have the laser engrave multiple passes.
1.0.1.7 4/26/06
  • In X/Y Off mode the coordinates for the X axis and the Y axis are displayed on the LCD when you move the carriage by hand.
  • The X and Y coordinates can be displayed in inches or mm.
    • To change the unit of measure on the Mini/Helix, press the Reset key and X/Y Off key simultaneously. Use the Up or Down Cursor keys to toggle between inches and mm.
1.0.1.6 1/20/05
  • Manual focusing has been enabled when the X/Y axes have been disabled. Press the X/Y Off key, then the Go key. You can then focus the table by pressing the Up or Down cursor keys. Finally, press the Reset key to send the carriage back to the original Home. The ability to focus anywhere also works with the Rotary Attachment.
  • Restore Home can now be accomplished without powering down the machine. Create a new home position by pressing the X/Y Off key, then the Go key. Focus if necessary, then press the Set Home key, then Reset. Your new home position is now set. To restore the original home in the upper left corner, press the Reset and Set Home keys simultaneously, then press the Go key.
  • How the system handles the Frequency setting has been modified so that a new Frequency setting sent to the laser will not override the settings in jobs already residing on the laser.
1.0.1.5 11/18/05 Add this firmware to your Epilog Mini or Helix to use driver version 7.01's Raster Color Mapping capabilities.
1.0.1.2 8/8/05 Incorporates an improvement to the vector cutting mode. In previous versions when cutting at very slow speeds (less than 5%) there is a noticeable pause when cutting low angle curves or arcs. The pause can also be seen at speeds above 5%, but is not nearly as noticeable. This new version of firmware eliminates this pause.
1.0.1.1 6/16/05 Incorporates an enhancement to the vector cutting mode.  In previous versions when cutting at very slow speeds (less than 5%) there is a noticeable pause when cutting low angle curves or arcs.  The pause can also be seen at speeds above 5% but is not nearly as noticeable.  This new version of firmware eliminates this pause.
1.0.1.0 5/9/05 Changes the park position of the carriage when the machine is in the idle mode. The park position has been moved forward and to the right.

1.0.1.5 12/18/07
  • Fixed bug when using Auto Focus with the Rotary Attachment the table could stall at the very bottom of its stroke.
  • Under the Maintenance key is a new Auto Calib. X Encoder setting. This new feature is used by the factory to automatically calibrate raster engraving and vector cutting positions so they are precisely aligned to one another.
  • Fixed bug when using the Center-Center feature with the Rotary Attachment, raster engraving would be offset in the Y-axis from the intended location.
1.0.1.4 11/9/06

1.0.0.7 9/26/05
  • A Y-axis scaling adjustment has been added under the CAL key on the front keyboard, called the "Encoder Match Y". This setting takes care of mechanical tolerances on very large engraved and cut items.
  • When cutting very low angled arcs, the X-cbeam had the potential to pause and start drifting back towards home position while the laser was still firing. This problem has been corrected.
  • When raster engraving two lines of text with a specific amount of space between the lines, the laser would begin firing in the x-axis before the y-axis was finished moving.
  • The Auto-focus positioning has been adjusted so that it more accurately focuses at the first point of engraving.

7.02 1/3/06

Adds a slight modification to the Color Mapping function in the driver.

This new driver changes the way colors are interpreted when using Color Mapping. Version 7.01 interpreted color mapped colors as shades of gray instead of black, producing a different dithered pattern to each color mapped color in a single job.  Version 7.02 interprets all colors as black, making it possible to create a single job with columns of different colors that will all be engraved with the same fill pattern (black), at the same speed and power, thus achieving the same look as well as the same depth of engraving for each column.

  • Users upgrading from driver versions 6.xx will lose their Configuration Settings when upgrading to this driver.
  • Users upgrading from driver versions 7.00 and 7.01 will not lose their Configuration Settings when upgrading to this driver.
7.01 11/18/05 This driver version adds Raster Color Mapping to the Mini, Helix and Legend 36EXT.

Important! This new driver requires a firmware update to your machine to work properly.  The laser requires firmware version 1.0.0.8 (EXT) or 1.0.1.5 (Mini/Helix) to work with the new driver.

7.00 8/8/05 This new driver release incorporates one new feature.  The new feature is Bottom-Up Engraving which allows the user to select either top to bottom engraving (standard mode) or bottom to top engraving (Bottom-Up Engraving).  This new feature is found under the advanced tab of the print driver.
